Report Writing - Using RLIST to turn your data into information. |
| RLIST is Advanced Revelations powerful
report writing language. Using RLIST, you can create custom reports without the need
for RBASIC programming (though the optimal approach is often a small amount of RBASIC code
used in conjunction with RLIST report commands). Report statements can be saved or
entered directly at the command prompt. With RLISTS ability to sort,
sub-total, filter, and format your output almost any way you wish, the reporting
possibilities are practically endless. Our two day
AREV Report Writing course teaches you to report the data that your existing applications
have created and already manage. Upon completing AREV Report Writing, youll be
able to identify what files your application uses, what their structures allow you to
report, and how to structure your information into formats that are most useful to
you. Topics covered include: Filtering and select lists, sorting and sub-totaling,
understanding and modification of dictionaries, sophisticated formatting techniques, and
techniques in handling multi-valued fields. This course is especially recommended
for data entry persons and those using the application in a production environment on a
daily basis. |

Design I - Getting acquainted with the tools. |
| Advanced Revelations tools allow you
to create sophisticated databases and user windows with "pick-lists" and other
features. Menus allow you to connect data entry windows, batch programs, reports,
and utilities together to form a complete application. Table and dictionary tools
allow you to create and modify data tables, which are both the essence and foundation of
an application. AREV Design I is a three day course that introduces the student to the
array of application tools available in Advanced Revelation. Topics covered include
"Extended Relational Analysis" data modeling, table creation and modification,
the Paint utility, "Pop-Ups" (Advanced Revelations term for pick lists),
menus, and BTREE and relational indexing. |

Design II - Integrating the application components. |
| Learn how to best assemble your application
using small amounts of RBASIC code. Unleash the power of Advanced Revelation by
finding the balance between coding everything yourself and avoiding RBASIC altogether. AREV
Design II is a two day course that expands the students understanding of how to best
utilize AREV application tools. Topics include: Report criteria windows,
WINDOW_COMMON variables and additional features of Paint. Prerequisites: Design I,
Rbasic I, good understanding of AREV dictionaries, RBASIC programming experience and Paint
experience. |

RBASIC I - Introduction to RBASIC. |
| Advanced Revelations programming
language is called RBASIC. RBASIC can be used to write batch processes and create custom
application functionality. Learning to use RBASIC opens up limitless ways to control
and manipulate data and how your application behaves. AREV RBASIC I is a three day
introductory course to programming in Advanced Revelation. It assumes a basic
knowledge of computer processing and has as a prerequisite, AREV Report Writing (or
equivalent knowledge). Upon completion youll be able to write simple programs
to perform file I/O and use and manipulate dynamic arrays. Topics covered include
system variables, angle bracket operators, logical constructs using FOR/NEXT, LOOP/REPEAT,
CASE and IF/THEN, and string control functions. |

RBASIC II - Using AREVs subroutine libraries for sophisticated applications. |
| Advanced Revelations system subroutines
provide you with a host of powerful, pre-written, programs for your use. Calling
them from within your program opens a new world of control and flexibility for your
applications. AREV RBASIC II is a two day course designed to give you all the tools and
concepts necessary for taking full advantage of Advanced Revelations system
subroutines. As a prerequisite you must have taken RBASIC I or have equivalent
knowledge. Upon completion of AREV RBASIC II, you will be able to use the system
subroutines in your applications. |

System Administrator - Advanced Revelations system administrator facilities. |
| Advanced Revelation contains a host of
powerful, flexible tools and utilities designed to manage users and user access.
Each user can be directed to a specific subset of files within a database and have logical
views of data that are unique to his or her function. Advanced Revelation allows a
users environment to be tailored to the specific needs of the application, including
video attributes, terminal and printer characteristics, "hotkeys" or Macros,
log-on scripts and menus. AREV System Administrator is a two day course designed for
both the network administrator and the developer who needs to understand what goes on
"behind the scenes". Upon completion, you will be able to create and
secure users and accounts, create and manage volumes, and monitor and maintain files.
Topics covered include: System files, Group Format Errors, Advanced
Revelations NLM, exporting and importing, maintaining macros and log-on scripts, and
index management. |
