Keypad
Settings: Summary |
| One input device (for kiosk
user use) supported by Show-Tell & WOW! is a 12 key keypad. The keypad can be
used indoors, outdoors on the outside of a building or outside as a part of the
"Talking Fence Post" kiosk. |
| 1) Keypad-Never. A No
value for SW-Keypad causes Show-Tell & WOW! to completely ignore keypad input
(regardless of SW-KP-Always and SW-KP-Only). Keypad-Never is the default
mode. |
| 2) Keypad-Mixed. Keypad
audio/screen prompts used sometimes (lunch time, after hours, etc.) and
touchscreen/trackball/mouse audio/screen prompts used the rest of the time. |
| 3) Keypad-Background.
Keypad input accepted in the background, overriding touchscreen/trackball/mouse
input, though the keypad audio/screen prompts would never be used. |
| 4) Keypad-Always.
Keypad audio/screen prompts used at all times regardless of existence of
touchscreen/trackball/mouse. |
| |
| NOTE: The keypad you use with your Show-Tell & WOW! kiosk must be
provided by Embassy Software (we have several models you can choose from). |

Setting |
Description |
| SW-Keypad |
A Yes
value for this setting will cause Show-Tell & WOW! to receive and respond to keypad
input. A No value will cause Show-Tell & WOW! to ignore keypad
input. SW-Keypad functions as the master setting for keypad configuration and
overrides the other keypad settings.
Default setting: No |
| SW-KP-Always |
To use
a keypad with your kiosk, and always have Show-Tell & WOW! use the audio and screen
prompts that are specific to keypad, specify Yes for the SW-KP-Always.
SEE TABLE BELOW FOR RESULTS
PRODUCED BY DIFFERENT SETTING COMBINATIONS.
Default setting: No |
| SW-KP-Only |
A Yes
value for SW-KP-Only will configure Show-Tell & WOW! to use the keypad audio and
screen prompts at predetermined times of the day (i.e. after hours). This way, the
screen and audio prompts (nice if the screen is visible to the keypad user after hours)
will be specific for keypad use after hours. During business hours, the keypad audio
and screen prompts will be inactive allowing for primary use of touchscreen/trackball
audio and screen prompts. You can enter business hours in advance so that Show-Tell
& WOW! will automatically switch from keypad prompts to touchscreen/trackball prompts
day by day.

Yes or No |
Keypad-Always.
Show-Tell & WOW! will always use keypad audio and screen prompts (as opposed to
touchscreen/trackball/mouse audio and screen prompts). Regardless of whether a
touchscreen/trackball/mouse is present, the prompts will always be keypad specific. |

Yes |
Keypad-Mixed. Show-Tell
& WOW! will switch between keypad audio/screen prompts and touchscreen/trackball/mouse
audio/screen prompts per the daily open hour settings and holiday/special day settings
that you specify. During open hours, touchscreen/trackball/mouse audio/screen
prompts will be used. After hours, only the keypad audio/screen prompts will be
used. |

No |
Keypad-Background.
Keypad input will be accepted but the keypad audio/screen prompts will
never be used. Legitimate keypad input will result in play of selection, overriding
touchscreen/trackball/mouse input. For example, a touchscreen user would be
interrupted if a keypad user entered a selection. Keypad audio and screen prompts
will never be used (though keypad input would be accepted and slideshows would be
played accordingly). |

Setting |
Description |
SW-Auto-Load |
When Show-Tell & WOW! starts up, it searches for a content update
directory and files. If an update directory (a directory named STWOWUPD on CD,
floppy disk, or elsewhere) is found, Show-Tell & WOW! will load the update
automatically (if the SW-Auto-Load setting is Yes and the update sequence id is the next expected number). If the SW-Auto-Load setting is No, the user will be required to respond before the
update will be loaded. Default setting: Yes |
| SW-Show-Banner |
Setting for turning the banner at top of the kiosk
slideshow Play screen on or off (YES or NO). Default setting: Yes |
| SW-Show-Exit-Button |
Setting for showing exit box on play screen.
A Yes value will cause Show-Tell & WOW! to show a small exit box on the lower right
hand corner of the screen. A No value will cause Show-Tell & WOW! to hide the
exit box. When this box is double-clicked, an exit combination box will
appear. If the correct combination is entered within seven seconds, Show-Tell &
WOW! will exit the play screen and bring up the load screen (allowing for the content to
be updated). This setting is handy for quickly adding or modifying the content of an
in-store kiosk, such as a dental office kiosk, where you might want to snap a digital
picture of a patient (for fun or otherwise), add a comment by the patient, and then return
to kiosk play mode. This setting
is not intended for use with unattended kiosks (as there would be no reason to switch
often from update to play - the exit box would simply invite undesired tampering with an
unsupervised kiosk). Default setting: No |
| SW-Invisible-Exit-Button |
Setting for
activating invisible exit button in upper left hand column A Yes value will cause
Show-Tell & WOW! to display the exit combination when this invisible button is double
clicked. Suggested use: Supervised kiosk when you want to use the same computer for
entering new pictures and for running the kiosk in play mode. Default setting: No |
| SW-Track-Hits |
The "Kiosk Usage Reports" depend on the
existence of usage data. The SW-Track-Hits setting determines whether Show-Tell & WOW!
captures usage data. A Yes value will cause Show-Tell & WOW! to create an usage
record every time a user plays a selection. If you are interested in when the kiosk
is being used, or, what kiosk users are choosing, then you will want Show-Tell & WOW!
to collect usage data. A No value will cause Show-Tell & WOW! to not record
usage data. Default setting: Yes |
